Meet the team

Elaine Mechergui is not only another of our registered nurses, but also provides quality nursing training to healthcare staff both within Elm House and also in the community.

With over 30 years of nursing experience, and 14 years as a previous home manager, Elaine knows the ins and outs of personal care, and has acquired many transferable skills, to which she has brought to Elm House and shared with our care team.

Our Mission Statement

Elm House Nursing Home and its staff are committed to ensuring that the best possible care is given to you or your loved on.

We endeavour to ensure that all aspects of your well-being are catered for (mentally, physically and spiritually) in a professional and safe environment. We strive to promote dignity, respect and independence as much as is possible, in an environment that we would hope for you would become a home from home.

Our highly experienced care team are here to support you and each other to ensure that quality care is given with trust and compassion always.

With continual investment in staff training, we strive to recognise and implement improvements where needed, ensuring that the standard of care given is resident led and resident centred.

We employ two staff nurses and 7 care assistants per day shift, and one staff nurse and two care assistants per night shift, with the Director of care (RN) on site Monday to Friday 8am - 6pm. We can therefore provide care for all dependencies of residents that require general nursing care.

Heather Brookfield, our Head Matron, is the registered nursing manager for Elm House, and prides herself on providing a homely and friendly atmosphere, and its dedication to all residents.

As well as working within the healthcare industry for 15 years, Heather has also had experience caring for a relative, and can therefore empathise with families of residents admitted to the home, providing full support when necessary.

Rebecca Laird is our Deputy Matron, as well as one of our registered nurses.

Her previous work includes working as a district nurse in the community and also as a coordinator.

Just like Heather, Rebecca has also cared for a relative, and can understand any concerns/worries families may have, as well as being able to care for residents to a professional level with over 15 years of experience behind her.
